this article, we present a straightforward yet delightful classic chicken
noodle soup recipe, guaranteed to earn its spot as a household favourite.
The Classic Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken (approximately 1.5 kg), cut into pieces
10 cups of water
2 chopped onions
4 chopped celery stalks
4 chopped carrots
4 minced garlic cloves
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon of fresh thyme leaves
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
8 ounces of egg noodles
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions:
Place the chicken pieces and 10 cups of water in a large pot. Bring to a
boil, skimming off any surface foam.
Add onions, celery, carrots, garlic, bay leaves, thyme, salt, and black
pepper to the pot.
Reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 hour until the chicken is
thoroughly cooked.
Remove the chicken from the pot, allowing it to cool. Shred the meat
into bite-size pieces.
Strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve and return it to the pot.
Once the chicken is cool enough, add the shredded chicken to the pot and
bring the broth to a boil.
Add egg noodles and cook for about 8 minutes, or until tender.
Stir in parsley and serve.
Variations:
Lemon Chicken Noodle Soup:
For a zesty variation, add lemon juice and zest to the broth.
Incorporate chopped spinach or kale for an added nutritional boost.
Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup:
For a luxurious twist, introduce heavy cream to the broth. This imparts
a creamy texture and decadent flavour to the soup.
Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup:
Inject a hint of heat by incorporating chilli flakes or hot sauce into
the broth. Consider adding diced jalapeño or serrano peppers for an extra punch
of flavour.
Experiment with these variations to tailor the classic chicken noodle
soup to your preferences, making it a versatile and beloved addition to your
culinary repertoire.
